My daughter is 22 and has worn hearing aids since she was 4. Now she insists on bright hot pink ear molds (the ones that fully fill the ear) so that people can see that she has a hearing impairment. It’s sometimes a struggle to get the provider to do that, so it helps if they work with pediatric patients too (who often use that time of mold).

I don’t wear a hearing aid (yet), but I am deaf in one ear; it means so much to read about Kayla’s experience. The next time I’m in a loud restaurant taking many nervous sips of my drink because I can’t hear the conversation at the table, I won’t feel so alone. Thank you for sharing, Kayla! <333

My niece, Kayla, has been an amazing person since she was a toddler. At 2, she’d ask me if I wanted to dance to Mozart. I love the sensitive, smart and worldly person she has grown into.
